The Story:

A stubborn teen faces off with her brooding, indifferent (but super hot) soulmate in this unique and sexy take on a classic paranormal romance story.
She's met her mate . . . and he's met his match.
Megan Ross has been waiting her whole life for her mate to come and sweep her off her feet. But the wolf she meets on the beach is NOT the sweet gentle boy she's been dreaming of. Instead, he's a warrior, one whose suffering has led him to lock his heart away in a prison as cold and hard as a diamond, who fights to resist the bond and their deep attraction.
Far from home, with a soulmate who is still a stranger, Megan learns that the path to true love isn't quite as straight and easy as she thought . . .
Chosen by readers like you for Macmillan's young adult imprint Swoon Reads, Alyssa Brandon’s debut novel Bound to You is guaranteed to make readers swoon, sigh, and maybe even cry before it's over.

My Review

Let me start by saying, werewolf/wolf-shifter romances -- Young Adult and Adult alike -- so I was ECSTATIC about the release of
Bound to You. Paranormal romances are my bread and butter.

And I really enjoyed it!

The plot Bound to You of is interesting. In modern societies, werewolves are alive and well and they host parties when they come of age to find their mates.

Megan has spent her entire life imagining who her mate would be. Longing to be with him. Wanting and waiting for him.

I couldn't wait to meet my mate. I so badly wanted someone to love, someone wo would love me back. A guy who would hold my hand and tell me I was bautiful. Someone to walk on the each with. To cuddle with. Someone who was just mine, who'd always care about me and put me first. He'd be strong, an Alpha or Alpha-to-be, and he'd always love and protect me.

As corny and anti-feminist it may seem, I resonated with Megan and her dreams of her mate. I did the same growing up, had the same notions about "The One."

But, as life would have it, reality rarely lives up to the dreams our minds run away with. A chance meeting on the beach on the night, Megan meets her mate. And he is not at all what she imagined. He rude, standoffish and can't seem to get far enough away from her.

With barely glance her way or words spoken, he whisks her away to live with his all-male pack in their secluded castle in Canada.

There goes her dream of attending Caltech. Or a loving, kind mate.

The world-building of Bound to You was done well. I could imagine the world Brandon created. The castle, the beach, Megan's family home. The characters were fleshed out. Megan was real and I sympathized with her -- even when she drove me nuts. James was the bad boy with a chip on his shoulder. He reminded me of Beast from Beauty and the Beast. Brandon's writing was to the point, and she did a great job letting us into the protagonist's head  - her thoughts and emotions were articulate and relatable. I felt like there is definitely more story to be told in a sequel and I would totally pre-order.

All in all, Bound to You was very nostalgic for me and I hope YA werewolf/wolf-shifter romances make a comeback in the bookish community.

Meet the Author:

Alyssa Brandon
I'm a 90s kid trying to figure life out while reading (and writing) as many books as I can. My big passion is urban fantasy and YA but I enjoy a good romance or thriller just as much. My love for writing and story-telling came to me early and I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t thinking up stories. BOUND TO YOU is my first novel..
