The Story:

In this highly anticipated sequel to the New York Times bestselling The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue, Felicity Montague must use all her womanly wits and wiles to achieve her dreams of becoming a doctor—even if she has to scheme her way across Europe to do it. A must-have for fans of Mackenzi Lee’s extraordinary and Stonewall Honor-winning novel.
A year after an accidentally whirlwind grand tour with her brother Monty, Felicity Montague has returned to England with two goals in mind—avoid the marriage proposal of a lovestruck suitor from Edinburgh and enroll in medical school. However, her intellect and passion will never be enough in the eyes of the administrators, who see men as the sole guardians of science.
But then a window of opportunity opens—a doctor she idolizes is marrying an old friend of hers in Germany. Felicity believes if she could meet this man he could change her future, but she has no money of her own to make the trip. Luckily, a mysterious young woman is willing to pay Felicity’s way, so long as she’s allowed to travel with Felicity disguised as her maid.
In spite of her suspicions, Felicity agrees, but once the girl’s true motives are revealed, Felicity becomes part of a perilous quest that leads them from the German countryside to the promenades of Zurich to secrets lurking beneath the Atlantic.

In My Mailbox : Book Outlet Edition

*In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren which allows bloggers to share what books they bought/received each week.*

Hey Bookies!

This week's In My Mailbox is dedicated to my Book Outlet haul. As it goes, Book Outlet was having a great sale and since it's been a while since I've ordered from them, I couldn't help myself. And I am so excited to share with you what I received in my mailbox recently.

For my order, I really tried to get copy of sequels for my incomplete series. For example, the Hemlock trilogy (I was missing the next two books), I was missing the second book to Teardrop, the final book in the Nil trilogy, and so on. Take a look below:

Here is a little about Book Outlet for those not familiar with the company:

READ-ICULOUSLY LOW PRICES

Booklovers want to be enriched, educated and entertained. Our tastes are as wide and varied as we are diverse, but there’s one thing we all have in common. We love a good bargain!
You see, there’s something special about bargain-hunting for a booklover. Sifting through a vast catalogue — online or in store — is a pleasure and, for many, even a pastime. Looking for that needle in a haystack, or the prospect of filling a cart with unexpected treasures elicits the thrill of a hunt. And when we find that gem — be it one or many — in new condition and at a fantastic price?
Well, that’s priceless!

Meet the Author

Hi! I'm Morgan. (I've always found the third-person biography thing pretty weird.)

I write YA novels, usually about a girl, a summer, a boy, sometimes a dog, and always lots of coffee and ice cream. I love road trips and traveling, old black & white movies filled with repartee, summers, Starbucks, and fountain diet coke.

I'm originally from the East Coast, but I now live in Los Angeles with my dog Murphy, in a house I wish was closer to the beach.

My Review

Let me start by saying, werewolf/wolf-shifter romances -- Young Adult and Adult alike -- so I was ECSTATIC about the release of
Bound to You. Paranormal romances are my bread and butter.

And I really enjoyed it!

The plot Bound to You of is interesting. In modern societies, werewolves are alive and well and they host parties when they come of age to find their mates.

Megan has spent her entire life imagining who her mate would be. Longing to be with him. Wanting and waiting for him.

I couldn't wait to meet my mate. I so badly wanted someone to love, someone wo would love me back. A guy who would hold my hand and tell me I was bautiful. Someone to walk on the each with. To cuddle with. Someone who was just mine, who'd always care about me and put me first. He'd be strong, an Alpha or Alpha-to-be, and he'd always love and protect me.

As corny and anti-feminist it may seem, I resonated with Megan and her dreams of her mate. I did the same growing up, had the same notions about "The One."

But, as life would have it, reality rarely lives up to the dreams our minds run away with. A chance meeting on the beach on the night, Megan meets her mate. And he is not at all what she imagined. He rude, standoffish and can't seem to get far enough away from her.

With barely glance her way or words spoken, he whisks her away to live with his all-male pack in their secluded castle in Canada.

There goes her dream of attending Caltech. Or a loving, kind mate.

The world-building of Bound to You was done well. I could imagine the world Brandon created. The castle, the beach, Megan's family home. The characters were fleshed out. Megan was real and I sympathized with her -- even when she drove me nuts. James was the bad boy with a chip on his shoulder. He reminded me of Beast from Beauty and the Beast. Brandon's writing was to the point, and she did a great job letting us into the protagonist's head  - her thoughts and emotions were articulate and relatable. I felt like there is definitely more story to be told in a sequel and I would totally pre-order.

All in all, Bound to You was very nostalgic for me and I hope YA werewolf/wolf-shifter romances make a comeback in the bookish community.

Teaser Tuesday

*Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just flip through your current read to a random page -- or not -- and share two teaser quotes from somewhere on said page.*
This week my Teaser Tuesday quotes will be taken from my current read, Bound to You by Alyssa Brandon.

Teaser #1:

Suddenly he moved. For a second I thought he was going to go for my throat, kill me then and there. But instead he got up on his back paws and placed his two front ones on my shoulders. He was big enough that he could do it comfortably. It wasn't as comfortable for me, though. His paws were heavy. He nuzzled me with his big wet nose, rubbing against my neck, almost as if checking for a pulse.  - page 180
Teaser #2:

"James took his attention off the rest of the pack and turned to me. His eyes were wolf gold. I wasn't sre how clearly he was thinking, how much was the wolf and how much was James. Normally a wolf would never hurt his mate, but our mate bond wasn't complete."- page 180

What teasers are you sharing this week?

Bookish Quiz : Will You Love or Hate the Next Book You Read? Let the Fates Decide!

*Bookish Quiz is a meme hosted by The Tattered Page to share bookish quizzes found and personal results*

Hey Bookies!

So, in the interest of paying homage to the release day Veronica Roth's The Fates Divide, Epic Reads came up with a bookish quiz with the same "fate" theme.

The Fates Divide released on April 10, 2018 and you can purchase it on most bookish sites or Amazon.

Synopsis:

#1 New York Times Bestseller! In the second book of the Carve the Mark duology, globally bestselling Divergent author Veronica Roth reveals how Cyra and Akos fulfill their fates. The Fates Divide is a richly imagined tale of hope and resilience told in four stunning perspectives. The lives of Cyra Noavek and Akos Kereseth are ruled by their fates, spoken by the oracles at their births. The fates, once determined, are inescapable. Akos is in love with Cyra, in spite of his fate: He will die in service to Cyra's family. And when Cyra's father, Lazmet Noavek a soulless tyrant, thought to be dead reclaims the Shotet throne, Akos believes his end is closer than ever. As Lazmet ignites a barbaric war, Cyra and Akos are desperate to stop him at any cost. For Cyra, that could mean taking the life of the man who may or may not be her father. For Akos, it could mean giving his own. In a stunning twist, the two will discover how fate defines their lives in ways most unexpected. Praise for Carve the Mark: #1 New York Times bestseller * Wall Street Journal bestseller * USA Today bestseller * #1 IndieBound bestseller

"Roth skillfully weaves the careful world-building and intricate web of characters that distinguished Divergent." VOYA (starred review)
